Forsyth County maintains a large percentage of new homeowners. Several affluent professionals from Fulton County have migrated into Forsyth County – perhaps due to rapid suburban sprawl and skyrocketing housing prices in Fulton. Over 60% of the population in Forsyth County either lived elsewhere, or was not yet born in 1987 – showing how many people have moved to and had children in the county.
Several new subdivisions with elegant homes have been constructed, many of which sit on world class golf courses. These homes coupled with Forsyth County’s prime location in relation to Atlanta have attracted many of metro-Atlanta’s newest residents. Shopping and subdivisions will continue to fill the county as more and more people find their home in Forsyth County. Forsyth County’s access to GA-400 makes it a great spot for individuals who work in the city, but do not wish to reside there. Access to Georgia’s largest lake – Lake Sidney Lanier – also draws potential homeowners to the county as well.
Forsyth County’s public school system is the largest employer in the county. The school system has experienced exponential growth in the past 10 years. The Forsyth County school system is currently home to 31,000 students in approximately 30 schools. By 2013, the school system is expected to have over 50,000 students and have 10 new schools open – including the sixth high school: East Forsyth.
Other North Georgia counties of interest include Dawson County, Hall County, and Lumpkin County. The North Georgia region also continues to grow as shopping and new home construction is further developed. The North Georgia region is easily accessible by GA-400, making it a prime housing market for people looking to get away from the city, but still be close enough to access it whenever they wish.
